Day 1: Arrival

Upon arrival your driver will wait for you at the airport. He will bring you to your hotel downtown San Jose where you will spend your first two nights. Your hotel offers comfortable rooms and is located nearby many great restaurants and shops.

Day 2: La Paz Waterfalls & Gardens

In the morning after breakfast you will be picked up by your tour guide to visit the beautiful La Paz Water Fall Gardens. Once you arrive at La Paz, you will walk through a trail, leading to a spectacular waterfall in the middle of the rainforest. Inside the park you will also visit the hummingbird gallery, the serpentarium, bird house and butterfly garden. Afterwards you will end the tour with a delicious lunch, before heading back to your hotel.

Day 3: On to the Volcano

Today your car rental will arrive at your hotel in the morning. After receiving your car, you will head out to La Fortuna, at the slopes of the Arenal volcano in the morning after breakfast. As you come closer to La Fortuna you will see the perfectly shaped active Arenal Volcano from a distance. For the next two nights your hotel will be Arenal Montechiari; a beautiful cozy and small lodge, owned by a Tico Family. You can relax in the pool, stroll around the lodge in search for birds, monkeys and sloths or just enjoy the wonderful view of the majestic Arenal volcano.

Day 4: La Fortuna Waterfall

The La Fortuna Waterfall is one of the best things to see when you come to the Arenal Area! You will love the hike down to the La Fortuna Waterfall because you can see all of the natural beauty of the rainforest as well as the birds and wildlife that live there. Once you arrive to the La Fortuna Waterfall, prepare to be blown away by the beauty of this impressive waterfall near the Arenal Volcano! You will also be able to swim and take amazing photos!

Day 5: Celeste Tenorio

The next drive from La Fortuna to Celeste Tenorio takes around 1,5 hours and will take you to one of the greenest, still untouched and out-of-the-beaten track area of Costa Rica: the Volcan Tenorio National Park, boasting the astonishing Rio Celeste. Local legend says that the colour of the river existed when God coloured the sky and rinsed his pencils in the water afterwards…You will be staying at the amazing Celeste Mountain Lodge, where you will have all of your gourmet meals included during your stay.

Day 6: The Celeste Waterfall

Today you’ll have a full day to explore the celeste waterfall and it’s surroundings. You will be able to get here within a short hike from the lodge on your own, but if you prefer to go with a guide, the lodge will be able to help you with that!

Day 7: The Cloudforest of Monteverde

It is time to leave Celeste Tenorio as you will be heading towards the beautiful cloudforest of Monteverde. When getting close to Monteverde you will have great views of the valley and the coffee plantations. Your hotel for two nights will be Monteverde Country Lodge.
After your arrival you can opt for a coffee tour, or a twilight walk to see the animals that are active after sunset! We can make reservations for your preferred tours.
Santa Elena has some very nice dining options. We love to have dinner in the excellent Treehouse; a memorable dinner in the top of a tree!

Day 8: High up in the trees

Today you’ll visit the Selvatura Tree Top Walkways (hanging bridges), this is perfect for families, children, and nature enthusiasts! Walk through the canopy of the Monteverde Cloud Forest to appreciate the flora and fauna of Costa Rica from a new perspective. Afterwards you will be able to walk through the famous Butterfly and Humming Bird Gardens and you will finish this great tour with a delicious lunch before heading back to your hotel.
In the afternoon you can explore the Monteverde National Park or the Santa Elena reserve. The trails are well marked and lead through the ancient cloud forest; a beautiful piece of preserved nature

Day 9: To the Pacific Coast

Today you will drive to the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. While on the road, you will pass by Rio Tarcoles. This river is amazing to make a stop as here you can see the largest population of giant crocodiles in Central America!! If you like to, you can even make a boat excursion on this river to see these creatures from up close. We can make a reservation for this tour, which also includes lunch.

Your final destination for today will be the little town of Dominical, where you will spend 3 nights at the lovely Cuna del Angel. Cuna del Angel is an exclusive and cozy boutique hotel that is committed with high quality standards in service and sustainability, its facilities are comfortable and intimate with an atmosphere of tranquility and romance surrounded by exuberant nature in the South Pacific of Costa.


Day 10: Dominical and surroundings

Today you will be able to visit Bahia Ballena National Park. The name Bahia Ballena (Whale Bay) is to honor the yearly arriving of whales to the region; these impressive mammals can be easily seen year after year when they come to mate and give birth to their calves. An other amazing National Park not to be missed is Corcovado National Park. Corcovado National Park is the habitat of tapirs, toucans, scarlet macaws, coatis, agoutis and the four Costa Rican species of monkeys. National Geographic stated that Corcovado National Park contains the most intense biodiversity in the world!

Day 11: Horseback Ride to the Nauyaca Waterfalls

The Nauyaca Waterfalls can not be missed during this trip! It is the ideal place, not only for those in search of tranquility and nature, but also for adventure and excitement. You will be picked up today to ride by horse, traveling through the farm that borders with two impressive waterfalls from Rio Barucito. These majestic waterfalls are one of the main attractions of the southern region in Costa Rica. Here you will be able to swim, climb and of course jump and observe the beauty of the tropical rainforest..

Day 12: Domincal

One more day in paradise! Relax on the beach, by the pool, or take an other adventure to one of the nearby National Parks.

Day 13: San Jose

Today you will head back to San Jose to spend one more night before your flight back home.

Day 14: Back home

On time for your flight back home, you will drive to the airport to drop off your car rental and check in for your flight.

Your Natural Mystic Trip at a glance

This trip is especially designed for those that have always dreamed of visiting some gorgeous waterfalls, along with some spectacular places for flora and fauna of Costa Rica. You will start off your trip by visiting the famous site of the La Paz Waterfall, located not to far from your hotel in San Jose. After a day here, you will then head on towards the famous Arenal Volcano using your own 4×4 car rental. Here your guide will take you on a hike to the La Fortuna Waterfall!

Your second destination will be ‘off the beaten path’, as you will drive towards the untouched beauty of the Celeste Waterfall. During your stay here, all of your meals will be prepared so you can totally unwind and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Before heading to your beach destination, you will first spend two more nights at the Cloudforest of Monteverde. Here your guide will take you on a hike through the tree tops to spot as much wildlife as possible with afterwards a visit to the hamming bird and butterfly garden.

Your last destination will be at the gorgeous Cuna del Angel, located on a cliff at Dominical. From here you will be able to visit some of Costa Rica’s most famous National Parks like Marino Ballena and Corcovado, and of course we will take you to another amazing waterfall while riding your horse!

Arenal Montechiari is a cozy small hotel, offering bungalows at just 400 meters from to La Fortuna center, yet offering a beautiful view of the Arenal Volcano. A swimming pool is nested in the tropical garden.

The charming rooms have an exterior terrace from which you can view birds, butterflies that flutter amongst the flowers and plant life in the hotel gardens. You can read your favorite book or simply breathe in the tranquility that you feel at this hotel.

The views from the Celeste Mountain Lodge are impressive, with the surrounding mountains and volcanoes Miravalle and Tenorio. The lodge sits on a hectares protected primary rainforest.

Around the building and on the private Celeste Trail in the primary forest, wildlife abounds, often allowing to spot and observe local fauna such as monkeys, an extensive bird species list such as toucans, hummingbirds or parrots and even rare species, also butterflies and mammals as the tapir roams the property. One will also enjoy the rich diversity of the vegetation with centennial trees or vines.
