Once you received the car, you will head to Celeste Tenorio. One of the greenest, still untouched and out-of-the-beaten track area of Costa Rica: the Volcan Tenorio National Park, boasting the astonishing Rio Celeste. Local legend says that the colour of the river existed when God coloured the sky and rinsed his pencils in the water afterwards…

You will be staying at the Rio Celeste Hideaway; a small resort-style and ecologically-oriented hotel that provides a truly unique Rainforest experience. It provides comfort, a wonderful restaurant and amenities surrounded by an untouched natural paradise. Be prepared to experience a lush tropical rainforest, complete with vegetation and animal variety that makes it unique. Bring your hiking shoes and adventurous disposition.

Today you will head to your next destination; Malpais. Here you will spend 3 nights at the (Adults Only) Casa Cameleon. Set in a beautiful jungle across from the Pacific Ocean, this tropical hideaway has only recently been discovered as an alternative escape from more overdeveloped tourist destinations. Mal País and the neighboring surf villages of Santa Teresa and Playa Hermosa are one of Costa Rica’s best kept secrets.
5

Day 5: Malpais and surroundings

Mal País’ beachside lifestyle has attracted a vibrant multi-cultural community from its roots as a surfers’ town. Set in a stunning tropical paradise, this quaint and friendly community thrives alongside a serious surfer culture drawn to some of the best waves on the Costa Rican Pacific coast. The colorful surroundings of both the natural scenery and social ambiance make Mal País a favorite highlight of travelers visiting Costa Rica. Recently it has also drawn the attention of the connected travelers and the occasional celebrity tourist. Nearby Playa Santa Teresa is a lively little surf village with broad and seemingly endless stretches of white sand beaches that are quiet enough for a private getaway even during peak season.

Mal País has an array of small independently-owned restaurants, each with typically less than a half dozen tables and diverse local and foreign menus. Once you visit Hotel Casa Chameleon, you will experience Mal País’ pride in its distinctive identity. There are no fast food restaurants or hotel chains in the area and most services and restaurants do not accept credit cards. There are however two banks with ATMs in Santa Teresa.

6

Day 6: Casa Chameleon

Whether you seek total relaxation or complete immersion into the local activities and pastimes, Hotel Casa Chameleon in Mal País caters to all that Santa Teresa and the Nicoya Peninsula has to offer. That means the staff knows where to find those vibrant sunset views, the most diverse snorkel spots, the locals favorite scenic hikes or the best dirt roads for an adventurous ATV drive…
7

Day 7: From Malpais to Jaco

The next drive from Malpais to Jaco takes around 4 hours and will take you along the beautiful coast line of Nicoya and partly by ferry. Once arrived in Jaco, you will be staying at the beautiful Villa Caletas. A luxury boutique hotel, 1150 feet over the vibrant Central Pacific coast and the rain forest.
