Day 1: Arrival

Upon arrival your driver will wait for you at the airport. He will bring you to your hotel downtown San Jose where you will spend your first night. Your hotel offers comfortable rooms and is located nearby many great restaurants and shops.

Day 2: To Selva Bananito

Today your rental car will arrive at 8 am at your hotel in San Jose. Your car will be a 4×4 for the rest of your trip, including basic insurance as well as two drivers and free miles. Once you received the car, you will head towards Bananito on the Caribbean Coast. A beautiful drive through the jungle of Baulio Carrillo.

The Eco Lodge Selva Bananito is an extraordinary example for ecotourism: nature and adventure tourism services nestled in a pristine region of Costa Rica’s Caribbean area, the Talamanca Mountains. The Private Reserve, Selva Bananito, is an important buffer zone or transition area to the “International Park La Amistad”. Day 3: Selva Bananito

A full day to enjoy all that this amazing lodge has to offer! Hiking in Costa Rica does not get any better than doing so at Selva Bananito Ecolodge, while scouting out the old growth primary forests. The lodge offers an amazing hiking tour, that’s limited to no more than six or eight guests at any given time on any given trail. This way we guarantee the natural experience, guided by very knowledgeable guides that will explain to you the importance and significance of rain forest conservation, and will spot for you all those little and hidden life forms, that are difficult to spot on your own.

Day 4: On to the Maquenque Lodge

Today you will head towards another very impressive location; the Maquenque Lodge. Maquenque Eco-Lodge is located in Cutris district, though you have to arrive from Boca Tapada of Pital, San Carlos, in the northern zone of Costa Rica, just 15 km from the Nicaraguan border. To arrive at the lodge by car, you must cross the San Carlos River in their private ferry.

Maquenque Eco Lodge is the best place for lovers of nature. We are located inside a mixed National wildlife Refuge with more than 50 000 hectares area, bordered by wetlands and the majestic San Carlos river.

During your stay here, you will sleep in your own bungalow up in the tree, in the middle of the rainforest. Included during your stay: a guided morning walk through the rainforest, canoeing, a visit to the local school of Boca Tapada and planting a tree in the Maquenque rainforest to support sustainable tourism in Costa Rica.

Day 5: Maquenque Lodge Hike

After enjoying a delicious breakfast in the restaurant El Paso de Las Lapas, you will depart to the tropical rainforest within the hotel´s property, in where we will begin a trek of 3 km (about 2.5 hrs.), during this tour it is possible to observe a great variety flora and fauna in the area, while our Naturalist Guide explains everything around. You will also visit the Botanical Garden, Medicinal Garden, closing the tour at the Hotel´s Garden.

Day 6: On to the Volcano

Today you will head out to La Fortuna, at the slopes of the Arenal volcano in the morning after breakfast. As you come closer to La Fortuna you will see the perfectly shaped active Arenal Volcano from a distance. For the next two nights your hotel will be Casa Luna. The hotel is located in a small and friendly town called Fortuna in San Carlos, with an amazing and close view of the Arenal Volcano, one of the youngest and most active volcanoes in northern Costa Rica.
The rustic-colonial architecture lies among beautiful and peaceful gardens and is situated in a very safe area; according to volcanologists studies. There’s a great view of the “Cerro Chato”, which is actually an inactive volcano next to the Arenal. This majestic sight in the horizon is enhanced with “Los Perdidos”, another hill that creates the feeling of being surrounded by mountains.

Day 7: La Fortuna and surroundings

Today you’ll have the whole day to discover the area. There is a lot to do here: a boat ride over the Cano Negro river, hanging bridges, hot springs, the waterfall of La Fortuna…

Day 8: To the Pacific Coast

Today you will drive towards the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. While on the road, you will pass by Rio Tarcoles. This river is amazing to make a stop as here you can see the largest population of giant crocodiles in Central America!! If you like to, you can even make a boat excursion on this river to see these creatures from up close. We can make a reservation for this tour, which also includes lunch.

Your final destination will be the Savegre River, 30 km south of Quepos and Manuel Antonio. Here you will spend three nights at the Rafiki Wilderness Luxury Tent Camp.

Day 9: Rafiki and surrondings

At this amazing lodge you can enjoy a wide variety of activities such as whitewater rafting, horseback riding, hiking to waterfalls, and world-class birding. Even if you are not an adventurous traveler or into eco tourism, you will still enjoy our truly unique accommodations and natural beauty.

Day 10: Rafiki and surroundings

Your luxury Safari tent is set atop a hardwood deck, with rocking chairs, so you can sit back and admire the view in privacy. Imported from South africa, the tent’s design lets you experience nature up close while keeping the insects at bay. Each unit features its own modern, complete bathroom. Whether you are on your honeymoon, want to bring a group of friends and family, or business associates, Rafiki provides the perfect atmosphere. While the property is a nature retreat… it is hardly roughing it!

Day 11: San Jose

Today you will head back to San Jose to spend one more night before your flight back home.

Day 12: Back home

In time for your flight, you will drive back to the airport to drop off your rental car, and check in for your flacht back home…

Your Natural Mystic Trip at a glance

Nature lovers, this one is for you! With this trip you will visit Costa Rica’s finest eco-lodges to be surrounded by pure nature.

Starting off at the pristine region of Costa Rica’s Caribbean area, the Talamanca Mountains. Here you will spend 2 nights in the ‘International Park La Amistad’. You will be totally off the ‘beaten track’ as this is not a place where lots of people come. You will have two full days to go hiking and explore this beautiful area, or just sit back and relax and watch the incredible view right from you porch.

Your second destination will be close to the Nicaragua border; Boca Tapada. Here you will spend 2 nights in a tree house while staying at the amazing Maquenque Lodge. You won’t be bored, as your guide will take you on a hike through the rainforest spotting as many animals as possible.

From Boca Tapada, you will then drive towards La Fortuna to spend two nights at Casa Luna. You will have a full day to explore the Arenal Volcano National Park, visit the Hot Springs, hike on the hanging bridges or take another day tour you like!

Your last three nights will be spend at Rafiki Safari Tent Camp in Savegre. In this very special lodge, you will have your own luxury safari tent to sleep in the middle of the jungle. For three days you will have lots of adventure as the property is home to some spectacular waterfalls as well as the opportunity to go rafting, zip lining or horseback riding.
